Is Global Health Neocolonialist? in the series Global Health Lab Discussions

Event Details

  • Date:

Location: John Snow Lecture Theatre, LSHTM, Keppel Street, London, WC1E 7HT, UK

Global health as an endeavour has expanded substantially over the past two decades and offers great promise to improve lives. It signifies a commitment to improving health and health equity that transcends the perspectives and concerns of individual nations and that addresses transnational issues and solutions. But who asserts the values and measures of global health, where does the power lie in directing global health, and who are the real beneficiaries? Does the term Global Health just mask neocolonial interests?

Maysoon Dahab (Royal Society of Medicine)
Sophie Harman (Queen Mary University of London) &
Derek Summerfield (Institute of Psychiatry)
