ALMA MATA BRIGHTON: GLOBAL HEALTH JOURNAL MEETING

The-FEAST-clinical-trial--006Discussion topic: THE FEAST TRIAL & RESEARCH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Monday 14th April @18.30

Audrey Emerton Building, Eastern road, Brighton BN2 5BE, opposite the main entrance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital

They will be discussing the legendary FEAST trial which found that fluid resuscitation as an emergency treatment for African children suffering with shock from severe infections does not save lives.

The links to key resources can be found below:

1. The primary paper from the trial

2. A paper on the impact (or lack) of the FEAST trial on current WHO shock guidelines for resource poor settings.

3. A paper on why first line therapy in developed countries may have caused excess mortality in resource poor settings.

All welcome, come along and join the discussion. There will be a social afterwards.
