Artemisinin Resistance – threats and responses

One of the mainstays of recent successes in malaria control has been the effective deployment of artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) in malaria endemic countries worldwide. As with antimalarial treatments used in the past, ACT are under threat from the development of resistance by the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum.
