The BMA have launched a “Doctors as volunteers” poster competition. This is an opportunity to highlight voluntary projects or initiatives you have been involved in both in the UK and overseas, and to demonstrate the benefits of volunteering.

This is an opportunity to work for Dr Andrew Frankel, Postgraduate Medical Dean for Health Education South London (HESL), to initiate and lead a range of change management projects relating to medical education with specific emphasis on quality and safety improvement, interprofessional learning and clinical leadership.

This is open to in Postgraduate Speciality or GP Training in a London training programme, giving an opportunity to spend a year ‘out of programme’ and contribute to exciting developments in postgraduate medical education in London. The successful applicant will be part of a network of Medical Fellows in South London and within neighbouring LETBs and will undertake a strategic development project and make a significant contribution to the success of Health Education South London. As an integral part of the post, they will be funded to take part in a development programme resulting in a postgraduate certificate and will also be encouraged to maintain a clinical commitment of no more than three sessions per week.

The Royal Society of Medicine seeks an exceptional talent to facilitate and coordinate its Global Health programme. The Global Health Programme Coordinator is a key part of the Global Health team. The primary purpose of the post is to promote and coordinate Global Health programme activities. It will include management of new initiatives such as the RSM medical volunteering scheme, ethical medical electives project and a global health training course. The role will also include coordination of the Global Health Film Initiative. Part of these activities will include mapping partnerships with global health organisations across the UK, as well as the organisation of meetings, conferences and film screenings.  This is a rare opportunity to work in partnership with several leading organisations in global health.

The Global Health Programme Coordinator will work closely with the Head of Global Health and the Director of the Film Initiative to facilitate the development of various exciting new initiatives.  This role calls for creativity, flexibility, organisation, independent thinking, teamwork and above all a demonstrable commitment to global health.  The coordinator will also be expected to be proactive and take a high level of ownership, especially when organising events.

Medical Aid for Palestinians is delighted to be hosting, in association with The Lancet, the London launch of fascinating new research brought to light by the Lancet-Palestinian Health Alliance (LPHA).

The LPHA is a network of Palestinian and international researchers committed to using the highest scientific standards to describe, analyse and evaluate the health and healthcare of Palestinians. Established in 2009, its key aims are to build capacity for research; to develop scientific methods that are culture-specific; to increase academic collaboration – within occupied Palestine, Lebanon and across the region – and to engage in advocacy based on science.

Please join us on 5 December for the launch of the Lancet’s publication of research presented earlier this year at the fourth LPHA conference in Cairo. The LPHA’s research findings deserve to be more widely known.

The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) and THET have teamed up to gather and share information about anaesthetists involved in international projects in developing countries. They’re asking those working in anaesthesia to tell them about their overseas work. The information will be collated into a database and map which will be shared to facilitate collaboration.
